What sensors are supported

Heart Rate monitors #

STAmina supports generic Bluetooth Low Energy heart-rate monitors that follow the Bluetooth Heart Rate specification. Most stand-alone chest straps and arm bands work without any issues. We have tested:

AirPods Pro (iPhone) #

On iPhone, AirPods Pro with heart-rate sensing can be used as a heart-rate monitor during exercises. Turn on AirPods Pro heart rate in the app settings.

Pulse oximeters #

STAmina supports generic Bluetooth Low Energy pulse oximeters that follow the Bluetooth specification, and some specific models from other vendors. Unlike heart-rate monitors, most pulse oximeters use their own proprietary protocol, so if your device isn’t listed there is a good chance it won’t work with STAmina. You can check your device before buying a new one.

Non-compatible devices #

Avoid pulse oximeters with an on-device memory feature: they either use complex protocols or don’t stream data in real time. We could not put these into real-time mode:

Smartwatches #

Smartwatches work with STAmina through watch apps:

  • Apple Watch app (standalone): run the tables from the phone app directly on your watch.
  • Garmin companion app: use your Garmin watch as a heart-rate sensor while you train with the phone app.

Watches don’t provide oxygen saturation in real time, only heart rate: see why there’s no real-time SpO₂ from watches. For live SpO₂, use a pulse oximeter from the list above.

Device not listed? #

If you have a Bluetooth LE device that broadcasts heart rate or SpO₂ and doesn’t work with STAmina, check it and send us the results, or request support for it on our feedback board.
